【次回の演奏会】10月29日(火)「最期の海、壇ノ浦。」▶

(Written on October 4, 2024)
Thanks to your support, we have finished accepting applications for the KamakuraKomachian reading course scheduled for 2024. Thank you very much.

About this course
The KamakuraKomachian study hall is located about a 5-minute walk from Kamakura Station, down Komachi-dori. The reading course held at this venue is structured so that everyone reads aloud together and then listens to a performance This is not a course that teaches you how to sing or play the Heike biwa, but you may get to make some of the memorable phrases sound with everyone else.

I don’t understand the Tale of the Heike, the words seem difficult…that’s okay! The course will proceed slowly with hiragana text. In this course, we will study history! This course is not about learning history or mastering how to read! This is not a course to study history! Read the stories aloud. Don’t worry if you make mistakes. We will cherish the feelings we have when we hear the performance. We aim to offer such a relaxed course. This is a small class for all ages and genders, with a maximum of 6 people. One-person participation is welcome.

Recorded: June 28, 2024

Original text
When Tsunemasa took the instrument and played it, the secret melody of the upper Jougen and Sekishou was so beautiful that it seemed to clear the palace, and the deity could not help but be moved. A white dragon appeared on Tsunemasa’s sleeve. Tsunemasa was so overwhelmed with gratitude that he could not hold back his tears of joy. For a while, he put down his biwa and continued to think to himself, “If only the gods of the land would grant my prayer, the clouds would part and reveal the true colors of the land.”

Please be assured that we will give performances and lectures even if you are alone. If you are unsure about participating, you may find it easier to get a feel for the atmosphere by listening to the audio of the performance or blog post. We look forward to seeing everyone at both the small concert and the lecture.
