Please enjoy the rehearsal recording of the KamakuraKomachian reading of NasunoYoichi together.

On Friday, January 26, 2024, a lecture on reading together & listening to Heike Biwa storytelling was held at Kamakura Komachian. Thank you to everyone who attended.

Please listen to the rehearsal sound recorded the day before.
*Audio only (please note the volume).
The Tale of the Heike Vol. 11 “Nasunoyoichi” Beginning 8:14 min.

The meeting to be held at Kamakura Komachian is a recitation course (sorry, this is not a course to teach how to sing or play the heike biwa. Sorry.) We will read a story picked up from the Tale of the Heike together.

I read the hiragana text first, then I read the text with the participants, and after each segment, the participants listen to the narrative while looking at the modern translation.

We plan to meet once a month starting in April 2024, but depending on the story, the first part may be this month and the second part next month, and so on. Although the time is short, we aim to have a relaxed meeting where everyone can enjoy the stories out loud together. If you are interested, please feel free to join us.

It is very difficult to tell people who don’t know what is natural to me. But it was so much fun! Thank you Komachian & everyone who participated.

Kamakura Komachian is a place of study located a few minutes’ walk from Kamakura Station, and we rent out the place to study groups and study circles. As a student of heikyoku (the Tale of the Heike, told with the accompaniment of the heike biwa), I had always wanted to go to Kamakura one day…to be with tthe Tale of the Heike people. So I brought my heike biwa to Komachian and told them about my plan for a lecture, and they gave me this opportunity. I am truly grateful. I would like to challenge myself little by little to prepare the contents of the course.
