Event report:
Tuesday, October 29th, “The Final Sea, Dannoura.
In the Heikyoku “Touya” that is performed in this production of “The Last Sea, Dannoura”, Wada Yoshimori makes an appearance. From the moment we decided to hold the performance at this venue (a 3-minute walk from Wada-zuka), we knew we wanted to perform “Touya”. Wada Yoshimori was defeated in a military conflict caused by internal strife within the Kamakura Shogunate, but in the Heikyoku “Touya” he demonstrates his skill with the bow and goes on a rampage against the Heike clan. Wada-zuka is located to the right of the ticket gate at Wada-zuka Station on the Enoden Line. Please come and visit.
This year, we started holding small concerts with a limited number of participants. The last concert of the year was a performance of the story of Dannoura. The Last Sea, Dannoura is a one-hour condensed version of five Heikyoku (a form of recitation accompanied by Heike biwa, a type of lute) related to the Battle of Dannoura. We have received requests for both the form of listening to a single story in depth and the form of listening to several stories in a concentrated manner, so we hope to be able to present them in various forms in the future. We have a lot of work to do this time as well, but we will continue to practice hard and face each challenge one by one.
Thank you to the venue owner. Thank you very much to everyone who came to the venue. Please take care of yourselves. I hope to see you again.
